A Lebanon police volunteer helped Lebanon firefighters and Wilson County Emergency Management Agency responders rescue three homeless people from rising water caused by significant rain Saturday afternoon.

According to Lebanon police Sgt. P.J. Hardy, the Community Emergency Response Team volunteer used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to drive across the flooded area to get the victims from a makeshift campsite near Legends Drive and Southeast Tater Peeler Road.

Hardy said the three people were trapped in a wooded area by swiftly running floodwaters. No injuries were reported.
