Cold weather ahead

Temperatures may have felt far from wintery Dec. 21, but after a weekend of rain, threats of flooding, sleet and even a few flurries on Christmas Eve, dry air and cold temperatures are in the forecast this week for Wilson County.

The National Weather Service expects temperatures lower than 40 degrees all week, with a 30-percent chance of snow on New Year’s Eve and a high near 28 degrees for New Year’s Day.

Wednesday should be mostly sunny with a high around 31 degrees and a low of 17 degrees. Thursday and Friday may be a bit warmer with a partly sunny sky, high temperatures around 38 degrees and a low of 22 degrees.
