Atkinson leads local swimmers at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. — Eight Wilson County swimmers represented the Middle Tennessee Swim Club at the Southeastern Swimming Championships last month at Auburn University.

Mt. Juliet Middle School seventh-grader Jules Atkinson led the MTSC delegation by qualifying for the finals in six events. She won gold in the 11-12 girls' 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.13, took silver in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.56, a silver in the 100 free, a bronze in the 200 free, a fourth-place finish in the 50 free and a fifth in the 500 free.

Wilson Central junior Kayla Hubbuch scored points in the senior 100 breaststroke, finishing 16th in 1:09.96.

Wilson Central freshman Miah Harris, Mt. Juliet freshman Simone Atkinson, West Wilson Middle's Evan Freeman and Blaine Robinson, Winfree Bryant's Nathan Mangrum and W.A. Wright Elementary's Carson Serbin also represented MTSC.
