Woman's workshop: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will sponsor an Outdoors-Woman Workshop June 3-5 in Crossville.

The annual workshop offers classes and hands-on clinics is designed to interest and educate women in a wide variety of outdoor activities.

Details about the workshop and how to register is posted on tnwildlife.org.

Keeping tabs on turkeys: Spring turkey season is about halfway through, and on pace for a fifth straight harvest of more than 30,000 birds.

Last year 31,456 turkeys were killed.

In 2014 the total was 32,495.

In 2014 the number was 32,489.

Even though last year's harvest was down by over 1,000 birds, biologists say such fluctuations are normal, and believe the state's wild turkey population is stable and healthy.

The spring season ends May 16. Dates of fall season will be announced next month.

Hot shots: Danny Shaw was the top shooter for the second straight week at the Cedar City Gun Club trap shoot, breaking 48 of 50 targets.

John Hess and Randell Pence tied for Senior honors with rounds of 46.

Jackson Holland's 46 was the top score for a member of the Cedar City Straights interscholastic team.

For information about the Gun Club or the Straights contact Kerry Hale at 615-519-2934.

Extra license option: A newly-added senior hunting/fishing license was omitted from the list of licenses in the Tennessee Fishing Guide. The license is listed on the TWRA website, tnwildlife.org.

The Fishing Guide details license options and requirements, along with the 2016-17 fishing rules and regulations. Most remain unchanged from last year.

Fishing licenses can be purchased online or at most area outdoors outlets.
