Fishermen input: Don't like the creel limit on crappie? Disagree with the size limit on bass? The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is willing to listen to suggestions.

For the remainder of April the TWRA invites anglers to send in comments and suggestions about the state's fishing rules and regulations. They will be taken into consideration when officials set the fishing regulations for 2017.

Comments can be mailed or emailed to TWRA headquarters in Nashville. For details visit tnwildlife.org.

Turkey tally: Turkey season is underway and runs through May 16. Kills can be checked in at checking sites, on the internet or on mobile apps.

Biologists use the data to keep up with the number of birds killed, their age and size, and the county in which they are taken.

A state-wide harvest of more than 30,000 gobblers is anticipated for the fifth straight year.

Last year 31,456 turkeys were killed.

In 2014 the total was 32,495.

In 2014 the number was 32,489.

Even though last year's harvest was down by over 1,000 birds - and turkey populations in some counties have declined drastically, to the point of banning fall hunting - biologists say such fluctuations are normal, and believe the state's wild turkey population is stable and healthy.
