Mt. Juliet shortstop Tyffany Cargile signs a letter of intent with Belmont on Wednesday to play for the Bruins beginning in 2018-19. Seated with her are (from left) grandfather Curtis, parents T.W. and Shana and sisters Angela and Trish Cargile. Standing are athletic director Mike Duncan, former Mt. Juliet Middle coach Denise LeFevers, travel coach Tonia Martin, Mt. Juliet High assistant coach Kevin Costley, head coach Haley Knapp, former Lady Bear coach Brad Rowlett and principal Mel Brown.

“In the sixth grade, I decided to focus on mainly softball,” said Tyffany, who batted .419 with 11 homers and 45 runs batted in as a junior. “I love softball. When I visited Belmont, the girls treated me like family.”

“She is a very hard worker and coachable,” Knepp said.
