Men move up one spot to No. 23

Cumberland men’s soccer moved up one spot to 23rd in this week’s NAIA coaches’ top 25 poll as released by the national office Tuesday afternoon.

The Phoenix have posted five consecutive shutouts en route to an 8-1-0 record overall heading into Tuesday night’s matchup at 12th-ranked Campbellsville University. Head coach Adam Grant has played as many as seven freshmen in the lineup over the last three weeks, mixing and matching because of injuries.

Cumberland goalkeeper Benett Strutz has registered a 0.58 goals-against-average this season with 17 saves and just five goals allowed through nine outings. Sophomore Daniel Williams leads the club with nine goals in seven matches and senior Brian McNamara has seven goals in nine outings while freshman Bakary Bagayogo paces CU with six assists along with four goals.

Cumberland will also travels to 11th-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Friday in the most difficult week of the season for the Phoenix.
