Funeral services for Mrs. Harper will be Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Bingham officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. and Saturday after 11 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.

Mrs. Harper, age 86, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Born May 29, 1931 in Wilson County, she is the daughter of the late William Byrd and Bernie Mai Burton Northern. She worked for many years at Sanders Manufacturing and was a member of West Hills Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Rufus C. Harper, on July 19, 2012; two sisters, Virginia Bechman, Martha Davis; and a brother, E.H. Northern.

She is survived by her three children, Linda (Carl) Melvin, William (Linda) Harper, Melvin (Shelley) Harper; eight grandchildren, Carla (Bruce) Taub, Kelly Melvin, Matt Melvin, Scott (Abbie) Harper Colin (Ashley) Brady, Jessica MacDonald, Ryan (Lorena) MacDonald, Jilli MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Anderson, Bradey Taub, Rufus and Azalea Harper, Jordan, Jessica, Taryn and Teagan Brady, Dallas Smith, George MacDonald; and special friend, Shirley Tramel.

Pallbearers will be Matt Melvin, Scott Harper, Bruce Taub, Colin Brady, Chris Stockton and Jamie Luffman
