The Lebanon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5015 sponsors free weekly art classes to veterans and their spouses at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon.

Patricia Bistline, a professional artist who donates her time to help veterans, teaches the class.

“I had been a volunteer with the VA in St. Louis, and I knew I wanted to work with veterans,” Bistline said. “So when we moved from St. Louis to Mt. Juliet in March, in the months presiding I started looking online for different veterans’ groups in the Mt. Juliet area and came across the VFW and Vietnam Veterans Association.

“The art classes started meeting in May. Originally there were 15 people signed up, but that number began to filter down to about six people. As the time went on, people had other obligations or weren’t able to meet in the afternoon.”

The art class meets each Monday at 1 p.m. in the East-West Building at the Ward Ag Center.

For more information about joining the VFW or the art class, contact Ken Kackley, senior vice commander of Post 5015, at 615-504-7026 or Pat Bistline at 636-751-5402
