The 13th Annual Sherry’s Run 5k Run/Walk is set for Sept. 10 at 8a.m. at 623 W. Main St. in Lebanon.

Lime green bows have surfaced around the county as a show of support, and to remind community members to support their neighbors who battle cancer.

The annual event raises money to assist cancer patients, in memory of Sharon “Sherry” Patterson, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 44 after battling colon cancer.

The Sherry’s Run courts begins at 623 W. Main St. and goes east along Main Street, north on North Greenwood Street passing the historic Woolen Bypass to Baddour Parkway, then west to North Castle Heights Avenue and south to Hill Street. At Hill Street, walkers have the option to separate and continue down Castle Heights, returning to the Sherry’s Run event site, or they may continue with Runners as they turn onto Hill Street, traveling east.

Runners will take Hill Street to North Greenwood Street, then south to West Main Street, where they will travel west returning to the finish line at the event site.

Registration for the race is available at sherrysrun.org. Bows can also be purchased at the website for $10 each. Proceeds from the sale of bows support Sherry’s Run.

Officials from Sherry’s Run encourage participants to post their green bows on social media.

Online registration for the race ends Sept. 7 at 10 p.m. The cost is $30 for a participant with no timing chip, $35 for a runner with a timing chip or $40 for event day registration. No timing chips are available to those who register on the day of the event.

Runners must have a timing chip to be eligible for awards in their age group or overall categories.

“Sleep In for Sherry’s Run” is also available to those who cannot make it to the event, but who would still like to contribute, for $35.
