The Republican Women of Wilson County welcomed two guests to its June 1 meeting at the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce office.

Julie Hannah, chairman of Williamson County Republican Party, spoke on processes used in Williamson County to grow party participation.

Scott McRae, project manager for the Lebanon Gasification Initiative, spoke on one of the first in the nation project to convert waste to energy. It is a green and financially sound public/private partnership that will reduce landfill needs by converting tires and wood waste into gas and a marketable byproduct.

Members announced the kickoff for Mark Pody’s re-election campaign would be June 25 from 6-8 p.m. at the Lebanon Municipal Airport.

The Republican Women of Wilson County will sponsor an old-fashioned political rally and picnic with games, door prizes and music by Shawn Pody and the Hit Men on July 9 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center pavilion. Barbecue and all the fixings are included. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $5 for children. Proceeds will go to the Republican Women of Wilson County PAC to support state and local candidates. For tickets, contact Julie Brockman at [email protected] or 615-405-4613.

The next Republican Women of Wilson County meeting will be July 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the chamber office.
