A Lebanon woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 40, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol officials.

Troopers said Katie B. Weathers, 26, was driving a 2007 Honda Accord eastbound on I-40 at mile marker 231 at about 2:41 a.m. when her car got too close to the side of another vehicle. Weathers turned left and then right and then lost control of the car. According to the trooper report, Weathers’ car crossed three lanes left the interstate and hit a rock wall. The report said the car then spun at impact, and Weathers was ejected.

According to the trooper report, Weathers wasn’t wearing a seat belt, which could have made a difference in the outcome of the wreck had she worn one.

Eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed for more than two hours to allow emergency crews to clear the scene.
