Smyrna man charged with multiple counts of rape, battery

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents charged a Smyrna man with multiple counts of rape and battery following an investigation.

J.C. Meeks, 66, of Smyrna, was found to be responsible for the sexual assault of a juvenile victim multiple times between 2012-2016.

Meeks was charged Friday morning with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of rape of a child, five counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, one count of aggravated rape, one count of sexual battery by an authority figure, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of casual exchange of schedule II drugs to a minor.

Meeks was booked in at the Rutherford County Jail on $200,000 bond.
