Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan said the body of Michael Odean Luna, 65, was found at about 1:15 p.m. about a quarter mile downstream from where he was last seen Friday afternoon on his houseboat at Cherokee Marina.
“He was an older man who couldn’t get around all that well,” Bryan said. “We believe he fell off his boat.”
Bryan said Luna’s body was sent to state forensics officials for autopsy.
According to Lt. Scott Moore, Luna was last seen Friday between 3-4 p.m. at the marina on Highway 109 near the Sumner County line. He did have known medical conditions, Moore said.
Detective B.J. Stafford said emergency crews used a sonar device to check the water immediately around Luna’s houseboat. He said they also checked with friends and family to try and find the man. Stafford said it didn’t appear to be a case of foul play.
A silver alert was issued Saturday morning for information on Luna’s whereabouts.
