Child abuse awareness panel is Oct. 25

Cumberland University and the 15th Judicial District Child Advocacy Center will present a child abuse awareness panel on Tuesday, Oct. 25, starting at 6 p.m. in Cumberland University’s Labry Hall in the tiered classroom.

The event is free to the public and will feature two survivors of severe abuse, Brenda Jackson and Keith Edmonds.

Also on the panel are Det. Maj. B.J. Stafford of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Assistant District Attorney Tom Swink, CAC Forensic Interviewer Amanda Dardy and Department of Children’s Services Lead Investigator Patrick Cockburn.

Listen to survivor stories of success over adversity and the views of child abuse from CAC partners. Questions will be taken from the audience. Continuing education credits are available to teachers.
