Saints go marching on Grace

CHATTANOOGA—Mt. Juliet Christian Academy scored three touchdowns early and held Grace Baptist Academy down the stretch to win 34-16 Friday night on the road.

The Saints (7-2, 4-2) took a 21-0 lead with about three minutes left in the first half on a 75-yard Darius Hylick touchdown run. Grace Baptist (4-5, 2-4) cut the lead to 21-6 just before halftime.

Mt. Juliet Christian quarterback Alex Pitman hit Justin Graves on a 75-yard touchdown pass to give the Saints a 14-0 lead late in the first.

Saints’ running back Logan Collier took a jet sweep 50 yards for a touchdown early in the game to give Mt. Juliet Christian a 7-0 lead.

Grace Baptist continued to hack at the Saints’ lead early in the third with an added field goal to make the score 21-9.

Pitman then hit Collier on an 80-yard touchdown to extend Mt. Juliet Christian’s lead to 28-9 later in the third.

Hylick found the end zone for the second time of the night on an 11-yard run to give the Saints a 34-9 lead. Grace Baptist added a touchdown late, but the comeback stalled as time expired.

Pitman was 13-of-18 passing for 247 yards and two touchdowns for the Saints. Hylick rushed 14 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Graves had five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. Collier finished with six receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.

The Saints will finish the regular season at home next Friday night as Donelson Christian visits Suey Field for the Saints’ Senior Night and a matchup to determine the third- and fourth-place teams in the East Region II-A, both of which will play host to home playoff games in two weeks.
