LEIPERS FORK - The Mt. Juliet Christian Academy middle-schoolers closed out their season Tuesday night at Williamson County's Grace Christian Academy with a convincing 28-8 win over the Lions.

MJCA quarterback Shawn Link was a deadly dual threat. He completed 5 of 7 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown.

All-purpose back Eli Wilson, the Saints' offensive engine throughout the season, ran for 47 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He added a 31-yard reception for another score.

The Saints surprised the Lions on the first play of the game with an onside kick recovered by Alex Sullivan. Link then led a masterful drive which ended in a 25-yard pass to wide receiverTyler Barnes. The Saints added a rushing touchdown by Wilson just before the half to lead 12-0.

Special teams played a huge role in the third quarter as Saint defensive tackle Corey Hardy blocked a punt and recovered a fumble that set up the Saints’ first touchdown of the second half. Link immediately hit Wilson for a 31-yard strike.

The fourth quarter saw the Saints defense take over the game with a young defensive group who will return next year.
