Patrick named MSC Football Player of the Week

Cumberland’s DeAnthony Patrick was named the Mid-South Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after registering a career-best 14 tackles in CU’s 27-20 loss at NCAA Division I FCS Presbyterian College.

The Nashville native was all over the field, making 13 stops over the final three quarters, including one tackle for loss. The senior safety posted one more stop than his previous career best of 13 tackles at UT Martin on Sept. 11, 2014, and it marked his third career double-digit tackle performance.

Patrick leads Cumberland with 40 tackles along with six pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. The Phoenix will begin Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division play this Saturday at Georgetown College at 12:30 p.m. CDT.
