Lebanon makes it three in a row

As Lebanon's football team hits the road for its final four games of the regular season, it will be packing its longest winning streak in eight years.

Chandler Crite and Tyrique Cooper accounted for two touchdowns apiece and Kemon Neuble had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Blue Devils beat Antioch 41-20 Friday night.

The win was Lebanon's third straight, matching the school's longest since 2009. The Blue Devils took big leads early against LaVergne and Hendersonville and then held on for victories in games not decided until the final moments.

The win also avenged last year's 32-27 loss to Antioch. On that night, the Blue Devils led 27-8, only to watch Antioch score three fourth-quarter touchdowns.

Lebanon (3-3) had a Crite touchdown run nullified by a penalty on its first possession, but Jeremiah Hastings' interception return gave the Blue Devils the ball back almost immediately at the Antioch 22. Moments later, Crite and Tobi Adewale hooked up for a 9-yard touchdown pass to give Lebanon the game's first points.

The Bears (1-5) recovered a fumble near midfield and drove for their first points, scoring on a short touchdown pass. Antioch's 2-point conversion pass was snuffed out, leaving Lebanon ahead, 7-6.

Tyrique Cooper capped off a Blue Devil touchdown drive midway through the second quarter with a 7-yard run, making it 14-6. Moments later, the Bears got another touchdown pass when A.J. Williams sneaked behind the Lebanon defense and scored on a 61-yard pass from Raymon Mitchell.

The two-point conversion failed, and Lebanon held a 14-12 lead.

But Neuble's game-changing interception came with two minutes left in the half, giving the Blue Devils a 21-12 lead at the hale.

Crite had a touchdown run and Williams – who switched to quarterback in the second half – had a touchdown pass in the third quarter. Lebanon led 27-20 going to the fourth quarter.

Cooper added a 47-yard touchdown run with 9:40 to play, giving the Blue Devils a two-touchdown lead. Joshua Powell added a short touchdown run two minutes later.

Lebanon plays at Station Camp next week. Antioch will play host to LaVergne.
