Crite's late score lifts Lebanon to repeat win

LEBANON—Chandler Crite’s 6-yard touchdown run with 1:46 left gave Lebanon the lead for good, and the Blue Devils defense stopped a final Hendersonville drive as the locals won for the second straight week, beating Hendersonville 29-23 Friday night.

Lebanon last won back-to-back games in 2010 with wins against Portland and Glencliff.

Crite, who ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns, kept the ball on a bootleg keeper and walked into the end zone for Lebanon (2-3, 1-1).

Hendersonville (2-3, 1-1) drove to the Lebanon 33-yard line with seven seconds left, but the Blue Devils sacked Hendersonville quarterback Brett Coker to end the game and touch off a wild celebration on the Lebanon sideline.

Like it did the previous week, Lebanon scored the first time it touched the ball and put it in the end zone courtesy of Crite’s arm. He eventually hit Tobi Adewale for a 10-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-0.

Crite capped off a dominant first quarter with a 4-yard touchdown to make it 13-0. The Blue Devils had 163 yards in the quarter.

Hendersonville got on the board 35 seconds later when Hughes ran for a 53—yard score, making it look like a shootout was in the works. But neither team scored the rest of the half, and Lebanon took a 13-7 lead to the locker room.

Lebanon’s Xavier Mills, who secured the final onside kick to preserve last week’s win, intercepted a tipped pass and returned in the Hendersonville 24. Noah Mulaski added a field goal three plays later to make it 16-7.

Joshua Powell’s short touchdown run boosted the Lebanon lead to 23-7 before the Commandos drove back, scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion to make it a one-score game at the end of the third quarter.

After an interception, Anthony Hughes (nine carries, 171 yards) ran for a 35-yard touchdown. The Commandos scored the two-point conversion to tie the game at 23 with 9:35 left.
