Edward Waters confirms game for Saturday

Staff Reports • Sep 13, 2017 at 3:26 PM

Cumberland’s football game this Saturday at Edward Waters College will be played at Andrew Jackson High School’s stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., as confirmed Wednesday by the Edward Waters administration.

Flooding and debris from Hurricane Irma whipped through the Jacksonville area on Sunday and Monday, putting the game in doubt, but the campus of Edward Waters and the football stadium for Andrew Jackson were not greatly affected by the hurricane.

Cumberland heads into Saturday’s contest 3-0 overall, including last week’s 38-24 victory over Webber International, while Edward Waters lost a 19-0 decision at Bluefield College last week, dropping the Tigers to 0-2. The contest is the first of three straight on the road for the Phoenix.
