Firefighters contain house fire in Watertown

Nobody was injured in a house fire Monday afternoon on Richland Avenue in Watertown.

Wilson Emergency Management Agency dispatch received a report at about 2 p.m. of a house fire at 324 Richland Ave. in Watertown. Watertown Volunteer Fire Department and WEMA firefighters responded to find smoke coming out of the home with an active fire inside.

No one was in the home, and no injuries were reported.

According to a Watertown volunteer firefighter, a dog and cat were rescued from the fire.

The fire was reported under control with smoke still visible at about 3:30 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene salvaging what they could inside the home.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
