Hee Haw on its way to Hartsville church

Staff Reports • Updated Mar 10, 2017 at 5:00 PM

Lulu Roman of Hee Haw fame will sing gospel music and share her story March 19 at 6 p.m. at Providence Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Hartsville.

Roman appeared on the long-running Hee Haw television show, which started in December 1969 and ended in 1993. In addition, she recorded 21 albums and was inducted into the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2008.

Though she never knew the love of a mother or father, was addicted to drugs for years and battled with obesity, rejection and low self-esteem, she was radically changed in 1973 when she accepted Christ as her personal savior.

The Nesbitt family will provide music before and at the beginning of the service.

The church is at 20 Providence Road in Hartsville.
