Benson’s contract was lengthened from three years to four, the maximum amount allowed for his position.
“You’ve made our jobs a lot easier,” said board member Steve Jones. “For that reason, we’ve decided to extend your contract by one year.”
Also discussed at the meeting was the recent scores the state released for the Lebanon Special School District.
“We’re not allowed to publicly talk about what our scores were,” said Benson. “What we can say is that we’re very happy with our score.”
The board also took the time to honor several members of Sam Houston Elementary School as well as the employees for the Neon Bus. A member of each grade level represented Sam Houston and read to the audience what made their School so special to them.
Afterward, Benson presented each of them with a certificate. The Neon Bus employees were also honored at the meeting and presented with certificates. The employees were praised for their work done on the bus at the Wilson County Fair and after.
The next Lebanon Special School District meeting will be November 13.
