Central runs second at state

NASHVILLE — Wilson Central’s boys finished a distant second in the Class AAA State Meet this past Saturday at the Percy Warner Park Steeplechase.

Brentwood ran away with the championship with 29 points. Central was second with 132 and Oak Ridge third with 145. Mt. Juliet was 18th with 418.

Nathan Peterson led a trio of Wildcats to eighth-through-10th-place finishes as he finished in 16:14.43, Joel Barlow in 16:15.18 and John Elrod in 16:16.96. Brentwood’s Brody Hasty broke the tape in 15:09.07.

Lebanon’s Caleb Kawasaki was 23rd in 16:45.72.

Wilson Central’s Baylor Franklin finished 32nd in 16:56.17.

Mt. Juliet’s Austin Powell was 43rd in 17:04.19.

Central’s Grant Pody finished 88th in 17:37.76.

Mt. Juliet’s Jacob Binkley was 94th in 17:45.11.

Central’s Russell Riggan was 9th in 17:47.7.

Mt. Juliet’s Tyler Stewart was 98th in 17:49.78. Teammate Daniel Stewart was 104th in 17:55.98.

Chris Farmer gave Wilson Central a 128th-place finish in 18:10.98.

Mt. Juliet’s Colby Crumpton was 132nd in 18:16.98. Bears teammate Henry Griffin was 140th in 18:23.44, followed by Ben Pham at 143rd in 18:26.22.

In the girls’ race, Mt. Juliet’s Jalyn Jenkins finished 14th in 19:13.39. Teammate Hannah Spring was 76th in in 21:16.22.
