Lebanon’s Kawasaki qualifies for state

HENDERSONVILLE — Lebanon’s Caleb Kawasaki qualified for the TSSAA Cross Country Championships after finishing seventh in the Region 5-AAA meet last week at Sanders Ferry Park.

Kawasaki completed the course in 16:43.62 to punch his ticket for this Saturday’s state meet at Nashville’s Steeplechase.

As a team, the Blue Devils finished seventh with 159 points while Lebanon’s girls were fifth with 159.

Lebanon’s Ethan Njezic finished 29th in the boys’ race in 18:04.83 while Jacob Andrews was 34th in 18:19.25, Noah Chance 41st in 18:31.47, David O’Hanlon 49th in 19:05.88 and Chance Lindsey 50th in 19:06.18.

India Mastin led the Lady Devils with a 14th-place finish in 22:22.52. Maddie Martin was 29th in 23:39.52, Brianna Garza 34th in 24:22.07, Abby Chance 38th in 24:37.98, Chance Reasonover 39th in 24:47.23 and Madeline Walker 40th in 24:56.52.
