The Lebanon City Council enjoyed a lunch and donated $50,000 to the Cedar Seniors center Tuesday after it agreed to donate the funds to the center earlier this year.

Councilor Rob Cesternino initiated the push for the center when he discovered the center needed about $30,000 for building maintenance. He said he also learned the group lost its biggest donor this year.

The center at 226 University Ave. has about 140 seniors and serves a $3 lunch on weekdays and $5 lunch on Friday. Cesternino said the extra funding would assist with some of those meals this year.

Councilors Joey Carmarck, Tick Bryan, Rick Bell and Fred Burton, along with Mayor Bernie Ash, attended the ceremony. Councilor Chris Crowell was unable to attend.
