Friday morning, a group of seniors from Mt. Juliet Christian Academy and their teacher surprised their favorite local waitress with the tip of a lifetime.

The MJCA seniors have been studying Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace program in their finance class, led by teacher Jon Willis. One of the principals they learned was about the importance of giving.

During the class discussion, they talked about how much fun it would be to leave a large tip for their favorite waitress, Ms. Martha. She always takes care of them when they meet for their monthly class breakfast at Steak and Shake, calling them her babies and treating them like family.

The class began the Martha Bucket, in which they pitched in a little cash at every Finance class. They also sold baked goods to MJCA staff to add to their funds.

The students were able to present Martha with a check for $1,500 on Friday.
