The Hermitage Fitness Back in the Day 5K event Aug. 27 raised $2,100 for the benefitting charity, Compassion in Action of Tennessee.

Terry Burns with Burns Insurance Group was one of the main sponsors. His participation as sponsor is in keeping with his longstanding contributions to animal rescue charities in Wilson County. Lebanon Publishing Co. also sponsored the event and provided the photograph for the check presentation.
Amy Haverstick, president and founder of CIA-TN, received the check on behalf of the organization. CIA-TN is an animal rescue and adoption charity in Lebanon. The organization is dedicated to improving the welfare of animals in the community through rescue, foster, placement, spay-neuter, education and awareness.

In 2017, the event, renamed Hermitage Fitness Back in the Day K, will add a longer course option for runners who enjoy a greater challenge. Eric Mitchell serves as event director.

“This race was extremely efficient. We had people in and out of the Greenway and on their way home in less than two hours. That’s unheard of for a 5K run, and we raised $2,100 for charity. In 2017, we’re adding a 10K run. We can’t thank our great sponsors enough for their support.”
