Eat Like A Girl: Billy Goat Café offers more than the typical coffee shop

Another locally sourced café, you say? In short, yes, but this one is not the norm. Billy Goat Café serves delicious, creative food made from local ingredients. But the food isn’t the only draw.

Billy Goat has a great laid-back atmosphere. The word journey comes to mind: An act of traveling from one place to another, and that’s how Katt and Austin’s story of taking over Billy Goat Café feels. After working for the previous owners, Katt decided to buy the place with Austin, and it’s been a culture they both have loved since. Their artistic decor gives off the vibe that this café has something to do with soul, creativity or love; they put something of themselves into their work.

Walking into Billy Goat, the most eye-catching characteristics that stick out to the public are the inspirational pictures on the wall and a giant rainbow map of the world. Along with the bar area, the amount of space there is a lot bigger than your typical java spot. With diverse tables and a comfy couch to relax on there is seating for all kinds. The Goat gives off a welcoming, warm atmosphere. The rustic and indie vibe greets everyone who walks in the door – not just the hipsters.

The baristas have smiles on their faces, are friendly and helpful toward patrons and create a vibe that makes you feel pure serenity.

My green machine smoothie was refreshing and surprise treat at a “coffee shop.” It is a great taste of spring to come, blends of almond milk, Greek yogurt, spinach, Chia seeds and banana. Don’t be afraid of the name. It’s super delicious and nutritious.

This is the kind of place you could gather with your friends for some intense studying, or if that’s not what you are into, Billy Goat’s is a great place for friends and families to come together for a place to enjoy each other’s company.

The Goat even has awards they have won as “Best Coffee in Mt. Juliet” many years running.

The well-trafficked location also gives the café a fun vibe, and creates a diverse range of customers. It has become the go-to spot for those who have grown tired of Starbucks and want their money’s worth for a latte. Their roasted coffees and lattes live up to the neighborhood buzz. Their muffins and pastries are the perfect companion to their high-quality latte, which tastes sublime, and the baristas are skilled with the designs, as well.

The price is reasonable at around $3.50 per latte, and they serve generous portions, which definitely justifies its cost.

All in all, Billy Goat Café has topped its other local competitors and leaves the “Starbucks” of the world overhyped and overpriced beverages in the dust.
