Happy New Year from the Glade

I wasn’t going to submit a story for this week because my wife, Mona, and I have been out of town celebrating our 59th wedding anniversary. I was going to ask for the week off from writing, but I realize how faithful my fans and followers are, and don’t want to let them down. Yes, it’s true folks, she has put up with me since I was a mere child.

I always tell everybody that we started off with nothing, and have been able to retain most of it. We started out together with five years in the U.S. Navy. We have been all over the world together. To be completely truthful, there has been a few times that we could have given up, but you can’t do that when when you have four children looking at you for guidance. You just tie another knot in the rope and hang on for dear life.

We ended up in the Nashville area because of the music business. That was 1970. It didn’t take long to figure out the fact that if I wanted to live in a house and eat food, I would have to indulge in other activities to support the family. The truth is, the average songwriter makes about $500 a year. I guess you could say I have been about average.

After spending 12 years in Nashville, we fell in love with The Glade. As they say, the rest is history. After been all over the world, we finally found paradise.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who have made our world a better place to live in. Thank you for letting me cover the news from The Glade for another year.

Words of Wisdom from Uncle Hershel: They may not remember the words you spoke, but they will always remember the way you made them feel.
