Walker Creek to close next week

One of Watertown’s most recognizable businesses will close its doors next week.

Walker Creek Confections will permanently close its doors Oct. 14, according to a Facebook post from the company. The Watertown store will remain open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. until Oct. 14, while online ordering was previously closed.

“We thank all of our customer and friends for your patronage and support over the last few years,” said owners Cathy and Bruce McCook via Facebook.

Walker Creek Confections makes small-batch caramels in several flavors, and is also known for its classic almond toffee.

The McCooks started their candy business in 2005 after many requests from friends and family who wanted to buy toffee as holiday and special occasion gifts. After a couple of years of growth in the business, they built a commercial kitchen in the old historic American Hardware Co. building in Watertown.

Walker Creek closed its Franklin location earlier this year after it opened October 2016.

The McCooks could not be reached Friday for comment.
