The Kiwanis Club of Lebanon received an update during Monday’s meeting to one of the community’s most popular holiday charities in Toys for Tots and Christmas for All.

Jim Harding, longtime Kiwanis member, addressed the club about Toys for Tots and Christmas for All, two longstanding and visible programs in Wilson County that help provide Christmas toys for children who otherwise might not receive gifts during the holidays.

According to public information, "Toys for Tots is the U.S. Marine Corps' premiere community action program. Over the past 15 years, Marines have distributed an average of 16 million toys annually and brought the joy of Christmas to an average of nearly 7 million needy children each year."

Wilson County's Christmas for All is an application-based program that delivers toys provided by sponsors and individuals who support the program. Companies, churches, civic clubs, schools and individuals sign on to sponsor a child or children or provide non-perishable food items for a food basket for an elderly or disabled person.

Volunteers assist with sorting, packing and distribution of the gifts to needy children and families. If you can help, or if you need more information, call Christmas for All at 615-547-1106.
