Denson places 24th for CU at Orange and Black

DAYTON, Ohio — Freshman Rickie Denson placed 24th overall for the women and senior Anh Nguyen was the top finisher for the men for the Cumberland bowling teams last weekend at the Orange and Black Classic.

Denson registered 920 pins in five games, an average of 184.0, for 24th-place, with the Mt. Juliet native just 23 pins from a Top 15-showing. Senior Jennifer Turner was next for CU with 874 pins (55th), while junior Taylor Wagner posted 826 pins (76th).

Junior Lauren Taylor and sophomore Savannah Shirley finished 106th and 107th, respectively, with 727 and 718 pins for the women. Cumberland finished 14th among 22 teams overall, with 4,065 pins from the five individuals and 2,548 in the 16 Baker games.

Nguyen finished 81st individually among 333 participants with 850 pins and junior Chase Midgett was right behind with 844 for 86th place. Senior John Isaac Davis was 96th with 826 pins, while freshman Peyton Bell posted 778 (119th) and junior Nathan Parrott had 587 (196th).

The Phoenix finished 27th among 31 teams on the men’s side with 3,885 pins from the five individuals and 2,545 in the 16 Baker games.

Cumberland bowls again this weekend in the Boilermaker Classic in Lafayette, Ind.
