FRANKFORT, Ky. — Cumberland junior Diondrey Holt Jr. was named first team All-Mid-South Conference in a vote of leagues coaches released Thursday night at the pre-tournament banquet for the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball Championships that begin Friday.

Holt Jr. continues to lead the Phoenix in scoring, posting 18.0 points per contest, which ranks second in the Mid-South Conference and 21st nationally. The Louisville, Ky., native has scored in double figures a team-high 22 times this season, registering 11 outings with 20-plus points and a season-best 33 points against Lindsey Wilson on January 9.

He collected 26 points in the overtime loss at Pikeville on Feb. 16, including 19 points in the first half, and posted 24 points with four 3-pointers in the win at the University of the Cumberlands on Feb. 18. Holt Jr. netted 24 points Feb. 4 versus Campbellsville and ended the regular season with 29 points last Saturday against Shawnee State, his second highest output of the season.

He has also made 3-pointers at a much higher rate over the last 10 contests, hitting 24 of 54 (.444) compared to 8-for-33 (.242) in the first 16 games of the year. His driving ability also puts him at the foul line frequently, averaging 4.62 attempts per game, where he makes 76 percent.

Holt Jr. is the first first team All-Conference player for Cumberland since Michael Sweat in the TranSouth Conference in 2011-12. Cumberland will begin play in the conference tournament at 7 p.m. CST on Friday against eighth-ranked Pikeville at the Frankfort Convention Center.
