Women slip a spot in NAIA coaches' poll

Cumberland moved back one spot to No. 19 in this week’s in this NAIA Division I women’s basketball coaches’ top 25 poll, the national office announced late Tuesday.

The Phoenix, 11-5 overall and 2-3 in Mid-South Conference action, posted a 55-49 victory at the University of the Cumberlands before dropping a 73-70 decision at 20th-ranked Pikeville last week. Cumberland’s three conference losses this season are by a combined seven points.

CU will head to Georgetown College tonight and plays at No. 9 Shawnee State on Saturday, the sixth ranked opponent for the club this season. Cumberland has registered a 2-3 mark in games against ranked foes in 2015-16.

The Phoenix will finish a six-game road swing Jan. 20 at Middle Georgia State before playing host to 22nd-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m.
