Trevecca women blow CU away

NASHVILLE — No. 9 Trevecca blew Cumberland out of Moore Gym in the second half Monday as the No. 11 Lady Bulldogs were blated 84-57.
The Lady Trojans led 30-23 at halftime before shooting .618 from the floor in the second half to pull away to their 20th triumph of the season against four setbacks. They are 11-3 in the TranSouth Conference while the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 9-5 in the league and 19-6 overall.
Abby Lawson knocked down 19 points, including three 3-pointers, for Trevecca while Mariska Reed sank all six of her free throws as she and Jennifer Bognar each finished with 15. Freshman Christian Gibson of Mt. Juliet notched nine points, MJ resident Kristin Archie scored six and former Lady Bear Paige McFarlin finished with four.
Renae Williams threw in three triples on her way to 15 points for Cumberland while Tomika Hall had 12. Kiana Robinson added eight points, C'Kala Humes seven, Isabelli Cunico six; Ashley Cross, Keisha Forrest, Juliana Fernandes and Ewa Bukowska two each and Mariel Ruis a free throw.
Cumberland committed 24 turnovers to Trevecca's 10. Reed racked up four steals. Cross collected five assists for the Lady Bulldogs, who will host Mid-Continent at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Dallas Floyd Center.
