Suspect charged in fatal shooting
Police charged a suspect early Friday morning following a fatal shooting that killed another man Thursday afternoon in Lebanon.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 326 S. Maple St. at about 4 p.m. and arrived to find Desmine Watts, 21, of 1508 Inman Court, shot multiple times, according to police.
Watts was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead soon after his arrival.
Within two hours of the shooting, police questioned Michael Desmond Sparks, 27, a resident of the home where the incident took place. Sparks was charged with criminal homicide early Friday morning and remained in Wilson County Jail.
Police Chief Scott Bowen said he believes an altercation between the two men led to the shooting on the front porch of the home.
