Pizza delivery man robbed

MT. JULIET – Local police said a Papa John's pizza delivery man was robbed and nearly forced to get into his trunk after delivering a pizza to an apartment in Mt. Juliet late Tuesday night.

According to Mt. Juliet police spokesperson Tyler Chandler, around 11 p.m. a man wearing an orange bandanna as a mask and wielding a weapon approached the 36-year-old victim right after he delivered a pizza to a Forrest View Apartments resident. 

Chandler said the suspect demanded the driver give him all his money.

He said the suspect is described as a "light skinned black male with a thin build" about 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 145 pounds and dressed in black.

Chandler said an unarmed man, described as a “dark-skinned black male,” about 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighing 230 pounds, was with the suspect. He said the accomplice had a blue bandanna covering his face and was wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

Chandler said after handing over his money, the victim was then told to get into his trunk. According to Chandler, before the victim got into the trunk, people walking nearby interrupted the two suspects. He said the suspects then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The delivery man flagged down the witnesses, and officers were called. Officers arrived at the scene within two minutes and conducted an unsuccessful search for the suspects.

Chandler said the victim was not injured during the armed robbery, and he could not reveal the nature of the weapon because the investigation remains open.
