TWRA adds more land: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has accepted a donation of 112 acres of land in Roan County.

The land will be known as the McGlouglin-Largen Wildlife Management Area and will be open to fishing, wildlife viewing and limited hunting.

The land is the latest acquisition by the TWRA, which in recent years has made a high priority of acquiring and preserving wildlife habitat to protect it from future development.

Trap shoot: Tsuki Yamamoto won a shootoff with Johnny Bond to take top honors in the Cedar City Gun Club’s weekly trap shoot. Both finished their regulation rounds with 48 of 50 hits.

Ashley Smith won Ladies honors with a 45, K.J. Davis was top Sub-Junior (45), Billy Robb top Veteran (43) and Richie Bolin tops in Class B (44).

The Gun Club this week hosts an ATA Registered shoot.

For information about the weekly trap shoot or other area shooting sports contact Ben Schade at the Gun Club.

Fall turkeys: The fall turkey season runs Oct. 13-26, and there are some changes from last year’s regulations.

Several more East Tennessee counties have a fall turkey season, while some Middle Tennessee Counties have a reduction in bag limits from six to three birds. In Wilson County the limit remains six.

For complete county-by-county regulations and other information visit tnwildlife.org or consult the Tennessee Trapping & Hunting Guide, available at most outdoors outlets.

License reminder: With several hunting seasons already underway and the popular deer gun season coming next month, the TWRA reminds hunters that anyone born after Jan. 1, 1969, must complete a Hunter Education Course to be eligible for a Tennessee hunting license.

Many states also require a Hunter Education Course certificate in order to obtain a non-resident license.
