Lebanon ousts Central, advances to 9-AAA semis

Lebanon's boys breezed by Wilson Central 55-30 Monday night in the District 9-AAA quarterfinal at the Blue Devils' Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court.

Tay Jackson's three-pointer at the first-quarter buzzer boosted the Blue Devils to a 10-5 lead. They widened it to 21-11 by halftime and 33-21 going into the fourth as they advanced to Thursday's 6 p.m. semifinal with a 14-4 record.

Central is finished for the season at 1-11.

Julius Young led Lebanon with 22 points, mostly from inside. Karlton Bruton, a post, stepped outside to bury four three-pointers on his way to 12 as Coach Derek Southworth played a five-out offense. Jarren Stewart stroked a pair of triples on his way to 11 points. Kobe Neuble finished with four and Jonah Bean a fourth-quarter three.

Aaron Schoch led Central with six points while Ethan Robertson, Zach Moser and Calvin Johns each finished with four; Sammy Bodenhorn, Jordan Wilson and Alex Comer three apiece, Nick Paredos two and Kelly Johns a free throw.

Lebanon will face the winner of Monday's late Portland-Mt. Juliet game  at 6 p.m. Thursday. Beech will take on top-seed Station Camp at 7:30. The winners will meet for the championship at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Mt. Juliet and Portland are the only schools fielding girls' teams this year. They will meet in a one-game championship at 11 a.m. Saturday.
