Heat too hot for MCA girls

McClain Christian's girls, playing in the refurbished Immanuel Baptist Church gym, succumbed to the Middle Tennessee Heat home-schoolers 49-36 Thursday night.

The Mt. Juliet-based Heat led 14-7 following the first quarter, 26-13 at halftime and 37-27 going into the fourth as the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 3-7 for the season.

Point guard Rachel Fettig tossed in 20 points for the Heat while Bri Lorenz notched nine and Abby Jones six.

Shelby Maxwell sank a pair of three-pointers in leading the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points while Sidney Rice tossed in 10, Madeline Walker five and Victoria Walker and Haley McCanless two each.

McClain will travel to Holloway in Murfreesboro on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
