Explosive second quarter propels Saints to second win

MURFREESBORO — Mt. Juliet Christian did all its scoring in the second quarter of a 20-6 triumph at Middle Tennessee Christian.
Rik Vanmali, on a busted play, heaved the ball as he was hit. Zach Jones caught it 30 yards downfield and took it in for a 50-yard touchdown. Fullback Elliott Lee also scored on a short run.
Jackson Hill hit two field goals and both extra points as Mt. Juliet Christian climbed to 2-7 for the season.
"The boys played hard," said Mt. Juliet Christian coach Jake Roberts, whose Saints close out the season at 7 p.m. next Friday at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville. "I'm really proud of the way they played.
"We ran the football pretty well offensively."
Middle Tennessee Christian scored on a quarterback draw in the fourth quarter as the Cougars fell to 0-9.
