Devilettes defeated at Smyrna

From staff reports

SMYRNA — Lebanon's girls had no answer for Smyrna's Brianne Alexander Monday night.

Alexander totaled 27 points in the post to power the Lady Bulldogs to a 56-48 victory over the Devilettes.

"We didn't play very good defense on her," Lebanon coach Courtney McFarlin said of Alexander. "Just didn't get her stopped.

"She hit her free throws. We had trouble blocking out tonight."

Lebanon led in the early moments, but Smyrna moved in front 11-6 by the first-quarter break, 22-20 at halftime and 39-31 going into the fourth as the Devilettes dropped to 6-5 going into tonight's 6 p.m. tipoff at Cookeville.

"We didn't come out and play our game tonight," McFarlin said. "We don't have much time to dwell on this loss.

"We've got to fix our mistakes and move on."

Jasmine Neal added 11 and Kayla Hunt 10, including a pair of three-pointers, for Smyrna.

Abby Wright's 14 points paced Lebanon from the post, though she stepped out to hit a three. Kelsey Yarbrough notched nine and Madison Sloan added eight wile Julia Fox flipped in a pair of triples on her way to seven. Scottlyn Elie and Faith Rushing each finished with four and Sydney Floyd two.
