'Christmas for the Kids' concert set

Mt. Juliet police and Music With a Purpose are making sure there will be “Christmas for the Kids.”

This free concert by country artist Josh Mirenda will honor the children and families of the Mt. Juliet police “Christmas With a Cop” program.

Mirenda and friends will perform at Jonathan’s Grill at 613 S. Mt. Juliet Road in Mt. Juliet on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m.

Mirenda, a native of Middle Tennessee and a junior at Belmont University, already has a radio hit with his song “Look At Us Now.”

“Serving other has always been a big part of my life,” said Mirenda. “Going into the Christmas season and seeing these police officers who not only commit their everyday lives to serving their community, but also take time out of their personal lives to give back is awesome. I am honored to be working hands-on with the Mt. Juliet Police Department and Music With A Purpose on this incredible event.”

The Mt. Juliet Police Department’s “Christmas With a Cop” program helps families in need by inviting children and families to shop with a Mt. Juliet police officer for gifts for themselves and loved ones.

Walmart will play host to “Christmas With a Cop” on Friday, with more than 25 children participating.

“Additionally, Jonathan’s Grille in Providence will host the families for a time of holiday fellowship and great food,” said Crpl. Thomas Shelton, Community Policing Coordinator and Chaplain of the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

The “Christmas for the Kids” concert is free to the public.
