Suspect takes aim at porn
A Lebanon woman is accused of shooting her boyfriend apparently due to his Internet viewing habits, according to police.
Police responded Saturday to a reported shooting at 1417A Idlewild Drive. Upon arrival, they found Jimmy Harp, 56, of Lebanon, lying on the couch with a gunshot wound to his inner thigh, according to the police report.
Harp’s girlfriend, Melonie D. Cantrell, 46, of Lebanon, told police she shot him in self-defense.
“[Cantrell] was yelling and crying that ‘he attacked me, so I shot him,’” said police.
Harp told police, however, that Cantrell “came into the living room with his handgun pointed at him,” according to report.
“[Harp] stated that she stood in front of the TV as he was sitting on the couch. She demanded that he confess to her that he had been looking at porn on the computer or else she was going to shoot him dead,” said police.
Harp told police she shot him when he didn't respond.
Cantrell was booked into Wilson County Jail on one count of aggravated assault. She was released Sunday on $35,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 19.
