Propst TSC Player of the Week
Cumberland outfielder Courtney Propst was named TranSouth Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
The 5-9 senior from Orlando, Fla., helped the Bulldogs to a 5-0 week with a .611 batting average [11-for-18], including at least one hit in each game. He recorded five runs, a double, two homers and six RBI. He also posted a 1.000 slugging percentage and drew a walk.
His play helped propel the Bulldogs to a three-game sweep at Crichton last weekend and into second place in the TSC, two games behind No. 8 Trevecca going into this weekend's regular season-ending three-game series between the top two teams at Woody Hunt Stadium.
Trevecca is 20-4 in the conference and 38-12-1 overall. A seven-game winning streak has sparked Cumberland to 35-16-1 overall and 17-6 in the TranSouth.
Trevecca and Cumberland will hook up in a 2 p.m. single game Friday and a noon double header Saturday.
The top eight teams in the standings will compete in the conference tournament in Jackson on May 1-4 with the top two advancing to the Region XI tourney later in the month.
The Bulldogs received just one 25th-place vote in last week's NAIA poll to rank 39th. The new poll is expected to be released Wednesday.
