Apparent tornado hits Mt. Juliet
An apparent tornado caused extensive damage in Mt. Juliet early Wednesday from a line of storms that also knocked out power in areas across Wilson County.
Mt. Juliet Police Department spokesperson Tyler Chandler said there is "extensive" damage along the Lebanon Road corridor. He said winds flipped a tractor trailer and removed the top floor of a three-story building on Lineberry Boulevard.
Both the truck driver and those in the building escaped injury.
Chandler said winds also heavily damaged buildings in an area from Nonaville Road to the Publix shopping center with “roofs and store fronts gone.” A fast-food restaurant suffering extreme damage also was reported.
At this time, there is no power in the area and the road is blocked while officials survey the damage.
