Lebanon pummels Patriots 6-1 twice
Lebanon posted twin 6-1 wins over Oakland on Monday at Cumberland University.
Coach Jim McDowell switched up Lebanon's doubles pairings on both sides and went a combined 4-0.
Doubles winners for the Devilettes were Chelsea Fyke and Sarah Morgan over Caroline Ingle and Audrey Jamison 8-2 and Courtney Fyke and Kacey Conatser over Kellie Wesley and Julia Greene 8-5.
Singles winners for Lebanon were Chelsea Fyke over Wesley 6-0, 6-0; Courtney Fyke over Ingle 6-2, 7-5; Morgan over Jamison 8-5 and Conatser over Green 8-3 as the Devilettes moved to 7-2 for the season.
Marlea Teeple picked up the Lady Patriots' only win, an 8-5 decision over Samantha McElfresh.
Doubles winners for the Blue Devils were Jonathan Do and Andrew Puryear over Ben Thompson and Matt Burnham 8-3 and Ben Fennell and Patrick Jones over Rob Wesley and Tim Stephens 8-5.
Singles winners for Lebanon were Do over Wesley 6-0, 2-6, 6-2; Fennell over Thompson 6-4, 2-6, 6-0; Puryear over Alex Hoelscher 8-6 and Jones over Stephens 8-5 as the Blue Devils moved to 3-6.
Burnham was the Patriots' only winner, 8-6 over Peter Misaiphon.
Oakland's long-standing arch rival, Riverdale, will come to Cumberland today for a 3:30 p.m. match with Lebanon.
MJ serves up 9-0 shutouts of Smyrna
MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet served up a pair of 9-0 shutouts of visiting Smyrna on Monday at Charlie Daniels Park.
Singles winners for the Golden Bears were Jess Dillard over Rick Drewry 9-7, Adam Williams over Ali Harb 8-0, Andy Mihalik over Alex Weeks 8-0, Matt Freda over Luke Sprague 8-1, Kenny Smith over Ethan Lassiter 8-1 and Jeffrey Gurch by forfeit.
Doubles winners were Dillard and Freda over Drewry and Harb 8-2, Mihalik and Williams over Weeks and Sprague 8-0 and Smith and Gurch by forfeit.
Lady Bear singles winners were Molly McCabe over Megan Anthony 8-2, Jessica Porter over Camille Williams 8-0, Kelsey Copeland over Jaime Kaufman 8-5, Brooke Jefcoat over Jordan Boom 8-2, Katie Kelly over Leigh Prevette 8-1 and Brittany Scott over Kathleen Hauther 8-2.
Doubles winners were McCabe and Rachel Calkins [back from tendinitis in her arm] over Anthony and Williams 8-1, Porter and Copeland over Kaufman and Boom 8-4 and Lindsey Gaither and Caroline Sugg over Prevatte and Hauther 8-1.
Mt. Juliet, undefeated in District 9-AAA play on both sides, will host Beech at 3:30 p.m. today at Charlie Daniels Park.
