Lady Saints drop first two games

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian dropped an 11-4 decision to District 8-A rival Westmoreland on Friday.
Lady Saint senior Courtney Harris struck out 13 and allowed nine hits. She was also victimized by nine errors as Mt. Juliet Christian, coming off a 16-3 loss at Trousdale County the day before, fell to 0-2 for the season and league.
Harris doubled and singled for the Lady Saints while Ashley Hudson tripled and LeAnna Sanders, Hannah Staggs, Jill Howell and Danielle Adkisson singled.
At Hartsville, the Lady Jackets put up nine runs in the first inning and held the Lady Saints to just six hits in the contest.
Harris pitched all five innings for Mt. Juliet Christian, allowing 14 hits and striking out three while taking the loss.
Mt. Juliet Christian, under new coach Emily Echols, will host Lighthouse Christian at 4 p.m. March 22.
